We will visit Thingvellir National Park to see the Mid Atlantic Ridge. The peaks of the National Park are covered by snow and provide a dramatic backdrop for Lake Thingvallavatn. Here we will enjoy spectacular walks amid beautiful scenery. Geysir, (all the worlds spouting hot springs were named after this, the Great Geysir), Stokkur hot water springs and Gullfoss, the stunning waterfall. 3 nights accommodation at Laugarvatn.

Day Three - 6th April

To Thorsmork, a forested glacial valley full of flowers, rivers and clear streams surrounded by snowy peaks, which offers excellent views of Myrdalsjokul Glacier and icecap, and the Markafljot glacial rivers. And then to Gigjokull Glacier. Hike to the glacier snout to witness some effects of the glacial flooding from the Eyjafjallajokull eruption last year. Weather permitting, hike up to the glacial moraines.

Day Four - 7th April

Visit the wonderful Skogar Folk Museum and Seljalandsfoss Waterfall - a high and wispy falls and one of the most unique in Iceland. This spectacular waterfall allows you to walk behind it on a path. Skogafoss waterfall – one of 20 along the river. Then on to Vik, Iceland’s southernmost village with its craggy cliffs and spectacular bird life. Offshore are Vik’s trademarks, the sea stacks of Reynisdrangur. From a distance we will see Dyrholaey – a long spur of rock, 120 metres high and cut into a natural arch by Atlantic breakers.

Day Five - 8th April

Back to Reykjavik taking in Krysuvik Geothermal Field of steaming vents, fumaroles, mud pots, clay and solfataras. We may explore it on a series of boardwalks though this is subject to the weather. On to the Reykjanes Peninsula, craters and tectonic plates, Elborg Volcano looking into the crater and finally a relax in the Blue Lagoon a bright blue mineral‐rich swimming pool, with geothermally heated water in the middle of a large lava field.
Then back to Keflavik Airport for the 4.10pm flight home arriving 8.10pm. We should be back at Priestlands around 11.30pm.
