Kit List

ICELAND - SUGGESTED CLOTHING & EQUIPMENT

Clothing and equipment is very much a matter of personal choice and preference.  The lists below are general and are intended for guidance only.

Please keep in mind when you are packing for Iceland that weather forecasts are unpredictable, and the weather can change very fast. A good idea is to bring a back- pack along to store clothes in during the day if it is warmer than you thought or some extra clothes to add on if it’s cold.

BAGGAGE – see below for luggage allowances
·                     Small Day-sack.
·                     Wash bag – shampoo, shower gel, face cloth etc. No aerosols please!
·                     Bin bags/plastic bags for wet/dirty clothes.

CLOTHES

·                     Waterproof jacket - make sure you get one made with breathable, waterproof fabric.
·                     Waterproof over-trousers if you have them. Don’t buy especially.
·                     Warm wool or fleece jacket - useful with zip pockets.
·                     It’s important to have plenty of layers - long-sleeved T-shirts, leggings (or long-johns!),
T-shirts, fleeces, hoodies.
·                     Underwear – including thick & thin socks.
·                     Hat and gloves - two pairs in case you lose one.
·                     Clothes for the evening activities (not posh!)
·                     Sturdy shoes/boots/trainers. We will be doing a significant amount of walking. Walking boots
are ideal but are not essential.
·                     Swim suit and towel

ACCESSORIES
·                     Alarm clock
·                     Umbrella - not essential but useful for sun and rain!
·                     Antibacterial hand gel.
·                     Lipsalve – high sunscreen factor is a good idea.
·                     Glasses and sunglasses - if you wear glasses bring a spare pair.
·                     Water bottle.
·                     Camera, spare batteries.  It’s a good idea to carry a spare battery somewhere warm –
extreme cold can stop them working.
·                     IPod/Mp3 player/phone/hand held games console. If you bring these, please be aware
that  they are your responsibility. Please ensure they are named (and covered by your own
insurance). Also beaware that the cost of making and receiving calls in Iceland may be very
          high!
·                     Binoculars (if you have them)

ESSENTIALS
·                     Passport
·                     Cash (we will tell you more about this nearer the time)

Luggage allowances:

·                     One piece of hand baggage is allowed per person. Dimension is not to exceed 55x35x25cm
